This fabulous, early, German porcelain figurine of a young lady posing in a beautiful dress, was produced by the ‘Goebel & Schaubach Kunst’ factory in Western Germany, as part of a series of figurines referred to as the ‘Suntan Ladies’. She’s in superb condition and measures 17cm in height and roughly 10cm at her widest. There are a few backstamps on the base with an impressed mark ‘Schau 17’ (model number) and the following stamped marks, the Goebel ‘Bee & V’ mark in blue with the words ‘SCHAUBACH-KUNST’ underneath, and below that ‘Western Germany’ in black.

NOTE: ‘Heinz Schaubach’ acquired the ‘Wallendorf’ factory in 1932 and renamed it ‘Porzellanfabrik Schaubach Kunst’. In 1953 the company was nationalized by the ‘German Democratic Republic’ (G.D.R), and in 1954 before Heinz Schaubach left East Germany, he gifted many of his designs to ‘Franz Goebel’ in West Germany, hence the combined factory backstamps.
