Antique Blue Wedgwood Jasperware Biscuit Barrel

This lovely, impressive Victorian jasperware cobalt blue Wedgwood biscuit barrel is beautifully decorated in relief with numerous white neo-classical scenes, along with a garland of leaves and acorns around the base. I’ve never seen some of the wonderful scenes before, on a wedgwood piece. The biscuit barrel has silver-plated fittings, collar mount with a swing handle and a lovely, engraved domed lid with finial. Other than a little ware to the plating on the lid, this wonderful biscuit barrel is in great condition and was probably made around the 1870’s. There’s a faint impressed ‘WEDGWOOD’ mark on the base and with the lid it stands 18cm high (21,5cm with handle), has a base diameter of 15cm and weighs 1030g.
