Antique Cased 14ct Gold, Garnet & Seed Pearl Necklace

This antique, possibly Victorian, exquisite 15ct gold, garnet and seed pearl necklace is in superb condition, with its original presentation case. It’s beautifully made, with various articulated sections and finely decorated with swags of numerous seed pearls and garnets, completed with three lovely pear-shaped drop garnets. This beautiful necklace comes with its original custom-made and velvet, silk lined leatherette hinged case, with a gilt stamped name and crest in the lid ‘BY APPOINTMENT TO HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR’ ‘MYERS BROTHERS, THE SOUTH AFRICAN JEWELLERS’. The ‘Myers Brothers’ were the original South African retailers, then based in Adderley Street in Cape Town (I’ve attached an old photograph and advert that I came across). The necklace is in amazing condition and hangs freely with a secure clasp at the back and is clearly stamped ‘15ct’.

This fine quality necklace comes with a detailed valuation, with a replacement of R69 300, a copy of which is listed in the photographs. (The valuation was done by a very reputable Gemmologist, but it doesn’t take antiquity and rarity into consideration).
