Art Nouveau ‘WMF’ Copper & Brass Jug
This wonderful, art nouveau, ‘jugendstil’ copper and brass lidded jug, with a hammered finish, was made in the early 1900’s by the sort after German factory ‘WMF’ (Wurttembergische Metallwaren Fabrik). It has an attractive shape with a slender, tapering copper body resting on a flared base and topped with a domed hinged lid. It is beautifully decorated around the lower half with raised, organic art nouveau detail and finished off with a brass handle and trim around the base. Other than a couple of very minor dents around the base it’s in great condition with a lovely, rich, polished colour and is stamped with the ‘WMF’ ‘Beehive Ostrich’ mark on the base. The jug stands 25cm high with a base diameter of 12cm and weighs 520g.
