Fabulous 1920’s ‘Art Deco’ Mesh Evening Purse

This scarce, impressive, art deco gilt metal evening purse is in excellent condition and a wonderful example of an accessory from the ‘Flappers’ 1920’s period. It has a fabulous shape with an unusual ‘V’ shaped frame, fitted with a chain and a lovely clasp set with a cabochon blue sapphire, along with a very attractive fine mesh bag, featuring a pretty flower motif and a tassel fringe along the bottom. It’s a beautifully made and super quality piece, with a good weight and functions properly with a secure clasp. The metal has been tested, without a definitive result, so sold as a good quality base metal with a great gilding. It measures 24cm (41cm with chain) x 12cm and weighs 114g.
