Large Art Deco Canteen of Cutlery (Sheffield – 87 Piece)

This impressive, large, art deco wooden canteen of silver-plated cutlery by ‘A.E. Poston & Co.’ has twelve place settings and consists of eighty-seven pieces. The canteen has a wonderful art deco shape with a hinged lid and draw below, internally lined with grey velvet. It consists of 12 x dinner knives, 12 x dinner forks, 12 x dessert knives, 12 x dessert forks, 12 x dessert spoons, 12 x soup spoons, 6 x teaspoons, 6 x coffee spoons and a 3-piece carving set. The cutlery was made in England around the 1930/40’s by ‘POSTON & Co’, founded by ‘Arthur Edward Poston’ in the 1920’s. The silver-plated cutlery is stamped ‘POSTONS CHESTER PLATE, MADE IN ENGLAND’ and the stainless-steel knife blades are stamped ‘A.E. POSTON & CO. LTD, SHEFFIELD’. The canteen has minor signs of age-related ware, otherwise it and the cutlery are in great condition. The canteen measures 44cm x 32cm, stands 17cm high and together with the cutlery weighs 8,25kg.
