Rare ‘Japanese’ Antique Carved ‘Lily Pad’ Tray (Signed)

This very early (possibly Art Nouveau period or earlier), beautiful, hand carved, small Japanese wooden tray is in the shape and form of a natural lily pad, which is exquisitely carved out of one piece of wood with amazing detail. It features in relief, the artists signature, a crab and a prawn, all on a life-like lily pad with its carved pattern of veins and curled up edges. Even the underside has been beautifully carved showing its veins and stem. Other than a very minor, short split on the edge near the crab, it’s in excellent condition. It measures 22,5cm x 13,5cm x 1cm.
