Scarce Antique ‘Cape Silver’ Sugar Sifter

R2,450.00

In stock

This lovely, antique, solid silver sugar sifter with bone handle, in my opinion, is a wonderful Cape silver piece from the early 1800’s. It has an unusually shaped bone handle, tapering with a slight bow and rounded along the top and flat underneath. The round pierced silver bowl has a plain rounded edge with a silver collar for the handle, which has an attractive, ‘Cape Dutch’ shaped mount underneath and the only factory mark I can find is stamped in the centre of the base, with either a ‘12’ or ‘two initials. This lovely scarce piece is in great condition for its age and measures 13,5cm in length with a bowl depth of 2cm, a diameter of 5cm, and weighs 23,4g.
