Scarce Pair of Large ‘Edinburgh’ Crystal Thistle Wine Glasses

This amazing, early pair of large, Scottish cut-crystal wine glasses have a wonderful thistle shape and are beautifully hand-cut and etched. The thistle shaped bowls are decorated with a row of finely detailed, hand engraved and etched thistles along the top, with a band of cut panels below, then a multi diamond-cut pattern below that. The bowl sits on a six-sided stem which stands on a round star-cut base, with an acid etched stamp underneath ‘MADE IN SCOTLAND’ and signed ‘Edinburgh’. These glasses are now seldom seen and fetch very high prices when they come on the market. They’re in excellent condition and stand 16cm high, have a top diameter of 7,3cm and together weigh 587g.
