Scarce Royal Doulton ‘Jock of The Bushveld’ Teapot
This lovely, large Royal Doulton ‘Westcott’ shape teapot from the early 1900’s is decorated in the sought-after series ‘Jock of the Bushveld’, which was produced between 1934 and 1942. This series features scenes adapted from ‘E. Calwell’s’ drawings for ‘Sir Percy FitzPatrick’s’ classic 1907 South African book. This scene depicts another man and Percy sitting under a tree near a campfire, with his Staffie ‘Jock’ holding a large bone in his mouth, along with a wide decorative band of various wildlife in their natural habitat around the top. Other than a tiny ‘fleabite’ chip to the inner edge of the lid, it’s in excellent condition with a lovely glaze. The teapot stands 17,5cm high, measures 23cm spout to handle and weighs 875g.
