Stunning Sterling Silver Art Deco 4 Piece Tea & Coffee Service

Sold!

This impressive Art Deco sterling silver tea/coffee set, from the 1930’s, is in very good condition. The tea and coffee pots have attractively shaped finials with ‘stepped’ Art Deco Bakelite handles. The sugar bowl has matching handles. The coffee pot, milk jug and sugar bowl are English hallmarked for Birmingham 1933, with a maker’s mark ‘H.C.D.’ for ‘Henry Clifford Davis.’ The teapot, which is an identical shape to the rest, is hallmarked for a year earlier – Birmingham 1932, with a maker’s mark ‘H.B.’ and is stamped on the base ‘HARDY BROS. LTD. MADE IN ENGLAND.’ All 4 pieces have the same ‘Rd No. 777767’ stamped on their bases. The set was made in Birmingham England and retailed by the ‘Hardy Brothers’ in Australia. The ‘Hardy Brothers’ is a speciality retailer of fine jewellery and decorative arts. It is the only Australian retailer to hold a ‘Royal Warrant’ and have produced the ‘Melbourne Cup’ since 1980.
