Superb Rare Shaped Georgian Crystal Decanter
This very early, late Georgian, large crystal decanter with a mushroom shaped stopper has a very unusual, rare shape. It is a striking crystal decanter with a nice weight and heavily cut body. It has a narrow, faceted bottom half with a wide band of parallel cut lines, and a wide rounded, faceted shoulder with a lovely strawberry-cut pattern. The fluted neck has been beautifully cut and faceted with a raised strawberry-cut ring in the middle, and on either side of the ring, numerous stepped ridge-cut lines. The full length of the decanter has been faceted into twelve panels, with a plain base showing nice wear commensurate with age. The tall mushroom shaped stopper has a star-cut top with matching strawberry-cut panels, with a fluted neck, with numerous stepped ridge-cut lines. Other than a couple of tiny nicks (very hard to notice), the decanter is in great condition, considering its age. It stands 27,5cm high (21,9cm without stopper), has a base diameter of 9cm and measures 11,5cm at its widest, and weighs 1575g.
