Victorian Silver Vesta Case (Birmingham 1897)
This good quality, sterling silver vesta case has been beautifully engraved on both sides with a floral decoration. It was manufactured by ‘John Millward Banks’, a very good silversmith, who was well known for his quality vesta cases. He established his business in 1863 and died in February 1911. His son continued with the business until 1925. The case is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1897 and is stamped on the inside rim with his ‘Forget-Me-Knot’ flower trademark. It is in excellent condition for its age and measures 4cm x 3cm.
