Antique ‘Austro-Hungarian’ Silver Enamelled Multi-Gem Necklace (C. 1870’s)
$1,872.00
This exceptional, rare, very early, silver ‘Austro-Hungarian’ jewelled and enamelled necklace, from the mid to late 1800’s, has been beautifully made and decorated with numerous faceted rubies, round cabochon-cut turquoise stones, two large oval baroque pearls and eight small round pearls, surrounded by white, red, green and black enamelling. The large central pendant has a layered, three-dimensional domed shape which is attached to a wide chain, with twenty-one flower shaped and enamelled links, set with a small ruby in the centre of each. The central pendant measures 5cm across, with a drop of 6cm and with the chain, it measures 39cm in length, with a chain width of 1,3cm and together weighs 40g. This impressive necklace makes a statement and other than a small ruby missing above the catch, it’s in great condition with a secure, push-in boxed clasp.
