Antique French Gilded ‘Portrait’ Trinket Box (Signed)

This wonderful, antique, French, gilded brass trinket box with a beautiful ornate hinged lid, features a lovely hand painted and signed portrait of a lady in period dress with a hat. The oval shaped box is decorated in relief around the sides with cornucopia vases and winged horses, with raised acanthus detail bordering the round portrait on the lid. The portrait is signed under glass with a name I can’t decipher but begins with the letters ‘Br???’ and still has its original, although worn, interior silk lined base. The box measures 10cm x 8cm, stands 3,5cm high, weighs 201g and other than the missing fabric in the lid, this lovely piece is in great condition.
