Antique Pocket Barometer by ‘Short & Mason’ (1890-1910)

This scarce, very early, brass cased pocket barometer was made in London by ‘SHORT & MASON’, a British company established in 1875 by ‘Thomas Short and James Mason’, manufactures of aviation instruments, compasses, altimeters, and barometers etc. This barometer dates between 1890 – 1910 and has its original bevelled glass with an outer turning bezel numbered from 1000ft to 8000ft and the inner barometric scale numbered in inches from 23” to 31”. The wording on the face reads ‘COMPENSATED FOR TEMPERATURE’ with the number ‘L 11050’ and below, ‘SHORT & MASON, LONDON’ ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’. This lovely piece appears to be in great condition with a nice, unscratched glass and clear face and comes with its original brown leather travelling case. It has a diameter of 50mm, a depth of 18mm and weighs 108g.
