Antique Silver Sovereign Case (1911)

165.00

This attractive, English hallmarked, sterling silver sovereign case is beautifully decorated with ‘acanthus’ leaves on both sides, with a blank shield shaped cartouche on the front. It has a push button sprung lid, with a sprung inner compartment for a Sovereign coin and is fitted with a swivel suspension ring. The case was made in Birmingham in 1911 by silversmiths ‘Edward Ernest Smith & William Bartlam’ trading as ‘Smith & Bartlam’ (S & BM) and other than very minor age-related wear to the lid it’s in excellent condition and functions perfectly. It measures 30mm in diameter (47mm with its loop), and weighs 17g.
