Boer War Group – ‘Q.S.A. & WW1 Medal Trio’ 2/LT. P.J. HARRISS (M.I.D.)
This original, Boer War and Great War group of four full size medals were awarded to ‘2/LT. P.J HARRISS’ who was ‘Mentioned in Dispatches' (HARRIS on the QSA). The four medals have different ranks and units,
- The Queen South Africa Medal has three clasps, ‘Cape Colony’, ‘Orange Free State’ and ‘South Africa 1902’. Rim: ‘3818 TPR. P.J. HARRIS, S.A.C.’ (South African Constabulary)
- The 1914-15 Star, Rim: ‘CPL. P.J. HARRISS, 2NDA. RFLS.’ (2ND South African Rifles)
- British War Medal, Rim: ‘2/LT. P.J. HARRISS’
- Victory Medal with ‘Oak Leaf’, Rim: ‘2ND C/W.O. P.J. HARRISS, S.A.P.C.’ (South African Postal Corps)
They are un-researched, but the QSA medal was confirmed on the medal roll, and the ‘M.I.D.’ was awarded to him in 1919 whilst serving in the ‘Special Service Company’ as a ‘Temporary 2ND Lieutenant’. The medals are in great condition, nicely tarnished, and come with their original ribbons.
