Crown Devon ‘Daisy Bell’ Musical Tankard

This lovely, large, Crown Devon musical tankard from the 1930/40’s, is beautifully hand painted and decorated in relief. It features a colourful English scene on the front with a couple riding a tandem bicycle, past a cow looking over a wooden fence and on the back are the words to the nursery rhyme ‘Daisy Bell’. Its handle is in the form of a flower stem with daisy flowers and buds. The mug has a wind-up mechanism in the base which when picked up plays the musical tune to the nursery rhyme and when put down it stops. Other than a little crazing near the base, it’s in great condition and the musical mechanism appears to be working well. It stands 16cm high, has a base diameter of 11,5cm and weighs 800g.
