Early Chinese Silver & Carved ‘Smokey Quartz’ Brooch

$173.95

In stock

This wonderful, early, Chinese brooch features a large, carved dark brown stone, a piece of ‘Natural Smokey Quartz’, measuring 158,5 carats (verified, see report below), that has been beautifully hand-carved and pierced. It probably dates to the early 1900’s and features a bird perched on something, that appears to be in or on water with floral decoration. The stone is set with claws, in a simple sterling silver frame with a secure pin and roll-over clasp, and other than a minor/small chip on the back, it’s in great condition. The brooch comes with a ‘Gem Gallery Africa’ report and valuation, which was done on the stone itself, valuing the stone at $320 USD, a copy of which is listed below. (The valuation doesn’t take antiquity, rarity and setting into consideration). It is stamped on the back ‘SILVER CHINA’ and measures 65mm x 40mm x 10mm, with a weight of 31,6g.
