Early Copeland Spode ‘Winston Churchill’ WW2 Pitcher
This large, very collectable jug of Winston Churchill, during WW2, is in excellent condition. It was produced in 1941 by Spode and known as the ‘Galloway’ shape. It has a portrait of Churchill on the front centre, flanked by a warship, a tank and a fighter aircraft with some of Churchills 1940’s remarks “ALL I CAN OFFER IS BLOOD, TOIL, TEARS AND SWEAT” above and “NEVER IN THE FIELD OF HUMAN CONFLICT WAS SO MUCH OWED BY SO MANY TO SO FEW.” below. On the back is an English bulldog sitting on the Union Jack flag and the words “GIVE US THE TOOLS AND WE WILL FINISH THE JOB” above him and a poem below him. This lovely jug measures 16cm in height, has a base diameter of 8.3cm and 19.5cm handle to spout. It has the black Copeland Spode mark as well as the words ‘U.S.A. DESIGN’ ‘PATENT PENDING.’
