This lovely, early, sterling silver gravy spoon/ladle was made by the sought after Danish silversmith ‘Georg Jensen’ in Copenhagen in 1927. It has an attractive shape with a lovely hand-hammered finish and is in excellent condition and clearly hallmarked on the back. The pattern known as the ‘Continental or Antik’ pattern, was designed by Georg Jensen in 1906 and was one of only twelve flatware patterns that he personally designed. It is stamped on the back with Georg Jensen’s early makers mark used between 1915 and 1927 above the ‘925,S’ purity mark, the Danish ‘three towers’ mark above the number ‘27’ dating this piece, and the assay masters mark ‘CFH’ for ‘Christian F. Heise’ used between 1904 and 1932. The gravy spoon measures 19cm in length x 7,5cm at its widest and weighs 73g.
