Early Large Blue Wedgwood Jasperware Jug

Sold!

This lovely 1930’s powder blue jasperware pitcher or large jug is beautifully decorated with a white neo-classical design, all in relief, which features a scene, the ‘Sacrifice to Ceres’. Ceres was the roman goddess of Agriculture and Fertility. It also has a continuous entwined, circular floral detailed band around the middle and top. The inside of the jug has been glazed to make it functional and protect it. The jug is in excellent condition, dates to 1936 and is impressed on the base ‘MADE IN ENGLAND, WEDGWOOD, 36’. It stands 12,7cm high, handle to spout 10cm, with a diameter of 10cm at its widest and weighs 445g.
