Early ‘Peacock’ Table Lighter (Occupied Japan)
This fabulous, unusual, vintage table lighter, in the form of a peacock, is in great condition and was made in ‘Occupied Japan’ between 1945 and 1952. It features a lovely porcelain peacock in raised colourful detail against a pale blue background, highlighted with fine gilt work. The brass mechanism is held in place by a screw from the bottom and appears to function well as there’s a decent spark. The lighter measures 8cm x 6cm, stands 9cm high and is stamped in red, ‘MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN’, on the base.
