Early Solid Silver & Crystal Jug/Carafe
This lovely quality, possibly Scandinavian, small, 1940/50’s solid silver mounted, crystal jug is in excellent condition. It’s in the form of a claret jug, but smaller, with a solid silver mount, hinged lid, thumbpiece and handle, mounted on a round swirled crystal body with a star-cut base. The jug could be used as a small claret jug or carafe for an individual portion, or as a lovely cream or salad dressing jug. It is stamped on the silver neck with the number ‘14811’ and ‘830’ (Silver purity stamp out of 1000). Mostly the Scandinavian countries like Denmark and Norway etc. used this ‘830 Standard’. This lovely jug is a fine quality piece with a nice weight, and stands 13cm high, has a body diameter of 9cm, a spout to handle measurement of 9,5cm and weighs 438g.
