This fabulous, early, very collectable, Victorian silver vinaigrette was made in 1840 in Birmingham, England by ‘Nathaniel Mills’ (N.M), one of the most renowned British silversmiths who specialised in vinaigrettes and snuff boxes. It’s rectangular in shape with a cushion form for good grip whilst in use and is decorated on the lid with acanthus leaf engraving around a small blank cartouche and bordered with a raised chased edge. The wonderful piece is in superb condition with good hinges, nice clear hallmarks and still retains its lovely, gilded interior. It measures 22mm x 16mm x 8mm.
