Edwardian Mother-of-Pearl & Silver-Plated Dessert or Fruit Set (Cased)

This very elegant, super quality, antique silver-plated and mother-of-pearl handled fruit or dessert set consists of twelve knives and twelve forks are presented in their original, fitted solid oak wood case, lined with turquoise blue velvet and satin. The knives and forks are beautifully engraved with grape vines and leaves, with decorative ferrules connecting the lovely, shaped mother-of-pear handles. This set from the early 1900’s is in amazing condition for its age, and was made in Birmingham, England by silversmiths ‘George Bryan & Co’ (GB & Co). The oak case has a blank shield shaped cartouche suitable for engraving and is fitted with a brass lock, but I’m afraid no key. The knives measure 20cm in length, the forks measure 17cm, with the case measuring 29cm x 24cm x 5,5cm and altogether the set weighs 1950g.
