Exceptional, Superb Quality, Large Solid Silver Tureen with Cover on Stand

This very impressive, large, oval shaped silver soup tureen by ‘Sarmento’ – the renowned Portuguese jewellers and silversmiths -  sits on four ball and claw feet in the form of small trees and the handles on either side are in the form of natural branches with lovely detail. The oval stand has similar detailing of small trees on either side and the cover is decorated with a wonderful pomegranate finial. The cover, tureen and border of the stand are all beautifully chased or engraved with a scrolling leaf design. They all have the Portuguese hallmarks ‘SARAMENTO LISBOA 916’ and are all in excellent condition. The tureen measures 28cm in length (handle to handle), 17cm in width and 19cm in height and the oval stand measures 33cm x 25cm. It weighs 2656grams in total.
