French ‘Art Deco’ Evening Bag’ with Silver Enamelled Clasp

This fabulous, French, art deco, black suede evening bag from the 1920/30’s, has a wonderful solid silver clasp with black enamel, decorated with numerous marcasite stones and a round, cabochon-cut carnelian in the centre. The handle mounts are also silver, decorated with a matching row of marcasite stones and the hinges are set with small cabochon-cut onyx stones. The suede bag has a lovely raised and fluted art deco design on the sides and comes complete with a separate small mirror and coin purse. The silver clasp and handle mounts are stamped with French silver hallmarks and the interior is stamped ‘Made in France’ in gold. This fabulous piece is in excellent condition, with a nice strong clasp and appears to have never been used. The bag measures 16cm x 19cm without the handle.
