Large Glass Sterling Silver Overlay Water Jug (1940’s)

This lovely, large, 1940’s, American glass water jug has an unusual round ball deco shape, seated with a tilt and a spout designed to hold ice back. It is beautifully decorated with a floral, sterling silver overly featuring roses, marigolds and garlands of ‘lily of the valley’ flowers. It was produced by the American company ‘National Silver Deposit Ware’ in New York, who were active between the 1920’s and 1950’s and still has the original blue label on the base. This lovely piece is in excellent condition and is stamped ‘STERLING’ amongst the silver overlay in two places. The jug stands 23,5cm high with a diameter of 17cm at its widest and weighs 1160g.
