Large Silver & Marcasite Cameo Brooch

This early, very pretty, large silver cameo brooch from the 1940/50’s, features a right facing oval portrait of a lady wearing a pearl necklace and drop earrings, all beautifully hand carved with lovely detail. The shell cameo is mounted in a very attractive, solid silver frame set with evenly spaced groups of marcasite stones. The brooch is in great condition with a secure pin and roll-over clasp and is fitted with a small loop at the top, where a hanger could be attached for a chain, so could also be worn as a pendant. It is stamped ‘800’ (80% Silver) on the back and measures 4,5cm x 3,5cm and weighs 10,5g.
