Long Victorian 9ct Gold Muff Chain (151cm)

This fine quality, long, scarce, antique solid gold muff chain/necklace has a very attractive and fancy oval link and probably dates to the late 1800’s. The chain measures 151cm in length and is fitted with a large gold jump ring, which could be used to attach a pendant if needed. This superb, versatile necklace can be worn long or doubled and is in great condition with a lovely rose-gold colour and weighs 22,7g.

NOTE: Muff chains are long chains which were popular during the late Victorian period, worn around the neck to secure lady’s muffs. A muff was a cylindrical piece of warm material or fur, used to keep the hands warm in winter.
