Mini Royal Doulton ‘Bacchus’ Character Jug

This early, mini, Royal Doulton character jug, ‘Bacchus’, was produced between 1960 and 1991 and was designed by ‘Max Henk’. In Greek and Roman mythology, ‘Bacchus’ was the god of wine and nature, inspiring men, and woman to appreciate music and poetry. The harvest celebrations to honour him known as ‘Bacchanalia’ were reputed to be such orgies of excess that the Roman government had them banned. This lovely hand painted jug is in excellent condition and measures 6cm x 5cm with a height of 6,2cm.
