Natal 1906 Medal ‘J.J. Maherry’ (Natal Rangers) (K.I.A. Deville Wood)

This original, full size ‘Natal Bambatha Rebellion’ medal with bar was issued to ‘PTE. J.J. Maherry’ of the ‘Natal Rangers’. It appears that he went on to serve in the great war with the 3^rd Regt. of the South African Infantry and was subsequently killed in action (K.I.A.) at Deville Wood on the 20^{th of} July 1916 at the age of 33 (Copies of documents are listed). This medal could do with further research, as the chances of a second person with the identical initials and surname (unusual surname) is very remote. The medal has a small dent on the reverse and the suspension bar has a lot of play, otherwise it’s in great condition, nicely tarnished with its original ribbon. It has also been confirmed on the roll.
