Quality Art Deco ‘Mappin & Webb’ Entre Dish & Cover

This large, super quality, silver-plated, art deco entrée dish and cover from the 1920/30’s was produced by the ‘Mappin & Webb’ factory in Sheffield, England, who were well-known for their quality. It has an attractive art deco shape with stylish gadroon trim and borders, with its removable twist-off handle, which enables the lid to be used as a further serving dish if required. The base is impressed ‘MAPPIN & WEBB’S, PRINCESS PLATE, LONDON & SHEFFIELD’ with the number ‘W 13246’, and other than very minor wear on a few edges, it’s in excellent condition, with a lovely weight. The entrée dish and cover measures 29,5cm x 21,5cm, stands 13cm high and weighs 1660g.
