Rare ‘George III’ Silver Marrow Scoop/Spoon (1761)

This scarce, fine quality, solid silver Georgian double ended ‘Marrow Scoop’ is in superb condition with clear hallmarks and was made in London, England in 1761 by silversmiths ‘William Turner’ (WJ). The marrow scoop measures 23cm in length, 2cm at its widest, weighs 57,3g and is engraved with a monogram under the large scoop.
NOTE: During the early 1700’s, Marrow scoops or marrow spoons were produced and used to assist in dining etiquette in removing the marrow from the marrow bone.
