Unusual Antique Silver WWI Royal Artillery Photo Frame

This large, rare, Regimental sterling silver photo frame is English hallmarked for London 1916. The wide, silver, panelled border of the frame has the colours of The Royal Artillery behind glass – blue material with a red zigzag through it, although the blue has faded over the years. On the top of the frame there is a WWI brass badge of the Royal Artillery Regiment and the frame features the photo of an unknown WWI officer of the same regiment, also behind glass.  This silver frame is exceptionally well made and I’ve never seen one similar. The outer frame measures 28.5cm x 23.2cm, the inner frame is 20.4cm x 15.4cm and it is 1.7cm thick. The silver frame itself is in excellent condition but is missing the rear hinged stand. I’ve included a plate stand that the frame sits on nicely. There are English hallmarks on the side of the frame and on one of the inner silver panels.
