Very Rare Gold Georgian Miniature Portrait Bracelet/Pendant (C.1780-1820)

Sold!

This is a rare, wonderful example of a very early, beautifully hand-painted portrait miniature. The portrait is behind beveled glass and encased in a rose gold frame, which has been exceptionally well made and has been designed to be worn as either a bracelet or a pendant. The frame has a slot on the edge of each end for the gold fittings of the bracelet or pendant link. The back of the gold frame has been designed with a gentle curve for comfort on the wrist when worn as a bracelet. Included is a fine quality, gold inter-changeable link, which when inserted in the top slot of the portrait converts it to a pendant. There’s also a black velvet strap with gold fittings attached to each end, which form the bracelet when attached to the portrait. To top this amazing piece off, it has its original red velvet lined case. I have never seen or come across, in my research, a combination miniature with accessories like this and to think it’s at least two hundred years old. It is oval in shape and measures 4.3cm x 3.5cm and weighs 17.6g (without the bracelet).
