Victorian ‘Childs – Aged 11’ Needlework Sampler (1889)

£40.55

In stock

This charming, very early, child’s sampler, from the late 1800’s is signed and dated and in great condition for its age. It features in various colours (pink, green, dark and light brown), the alphabet and numbers along the top, a large vase of flowers in the centre with birds on either side, followed by two large trees with flowers. It is signed and dated ‘Bessie Brokensha’ ‘February 1889’ ‘Age 11 Years’. The needlework has retained most of its original bright colours and there’s hardly any discolouration to the linen. Other than some minor needlework loss to the outer border, it’s in great condition. It is framed behind glass in a thin decorative wooden gilt frame and measures 32cm x 32cm.
