Victorian Pair of Sterling Silver Napkin Rings (Cased) (1890)
This fabulous pair of fine quality, cased, solid silver Victorian napkin rings have been beautifully engraved with an unusual zigzag pattern all round. They are square in shape and made of a thick gauge silver giving them a lovely weight. They come with their original, hinged, dome shaped presentation case, lined with blue velvet and satin. The silver napkin rings were made in 1890 in Birmingham, England by silversmiths ‘Colen Hewer Cheshire’ (C.C), and the inside of the lid is stamped by the original retailers ‘FERGUSON & CO. DURBAN’. They individually measure 4cm x 2,7cm, with a square diameter of 4,1cm x 4,1cm, and together weigh 62,6g. The case measures 8,5cm x 7,2cm x 7,2cm.
