Victorian Silver ‘Full Hunter’ Pocket Watch ‘Thomas Peter Hewitt’ (Lancashire Watch Company)
This fabulous, solid silver, working antique pocket watch was manufactured in 1898 by ‘Thomas Peter Hewitt (T.P.H.) from ‘The Lancashire Watch Company (L.W.C.). This full hunter pocket watch has a perfect white enamel dial with bold black roman numerals, with a second-hand dial. The case is in great condition with engine turned detail and an engraved cartouche on the front. The front, back and movement dust cover are all English hallmarked for Chester 1889 and stamped with a case number ‘107369’ and ‘TPH’ for ‘Thomas Peter Hewitt.’ The movement is working well and is stamped with the number ‘167886.’ It measures 4.8cm in diameter (6.1cm with the winder) and weighs 110.3g.
Note: The ‘LWC’ opened in 1889 in Prescot, Lancashire, England and closed its doors in 1911. At the time it was the largest watch making factory in the UK.
All in all, a very good quality silver full hunter pocket watch.
