Victorian Silver & Gold Vesta Case (1897)
This superb, fine quality, antique, silver and 9ct gold vesta case has a lovely rectangular cushion shape with a sprung, hinged lid, fitted with a suspension loop. The front has a raised and beautifully engraved gold panel, decorated with foliate scroll patterns and stamped ‘9 .375’. It was made in Birmingham, England in 1897 by silversmiths ‘Thomas Acott & Co’ (TA&Co). This wonderful vesta case is in excellent condition with nice clear hallmarks and an engraved monogram in the corner. It measures 4cm x 5cm (6cm with loop) and weighs 31,2g.
