Victorian Silver & Horn Stilton Cheese Scoop & Fork (Cased)

This lovely, fine quality, Victorian cased set from the late 1800’s is in superb condition. The pair, a stilton cheese scoop and a serving or holding fork, have matching antler horn handles with fabulous, sterling silver mounts and ‘shell’ pistol grip ends. The scoop and fork prongs are silver-plated and both are stamped ‘WH & S’ (William Hutton & Sons). The solid silver mounts and ends are English hallmarked for ‘Sheffield 1888/9’ and stamped by the silversmiths ‘EH’ (William Hutton & Sons – Edward Hutton). They come with their original, fitted, presentation case, lined with blue velvet and white satin and both the pair and case are in excellent condition. The case measures 30cm x 12cm x 4cm, and together they weigh 615g.
