Vintage ‘Maternity Training School’ Medal (Acton)

This early, very good quality, white metal and enamel medal in the shape of a Maltese Cross, has the name ‘ACTON’ in the middle in red enamel, boarded with the words ‘MATERNITY TRAING SCHOOL’ in blue enamel. (‘Acton’ could refer to the town in West London). The medal probably dates to around the 1930/40’s and is in excellent condition. It is stamped on the back by the makers ‘VAUGHTON’, well-known medal producers in Birmingham, England, and measures 3,5cm x 4,5cm, 8cm with tatty piece of purple ribbon, and has a weight of 10,6g.
